I was hoping to be able to drag email attachments from outlook directly into my desktop silverlight app, but this post and the DataFormats class specification for silverlight conclude it is not possible. From what I have read elsewhere the "FileDrop" format was considered the most common format and so dev time by the team was only committed to that.
Given that HTML5 is the dominant focus for Microsoft for online applications, are we likely to see any further development in silverlight and alignment of classes such as the DataFormats class to the .NET framework ? Or will SL 5 be it until 2021 ?
